Interview Guide for Guests

Our Mission

This guide will give you a general idea of the themes we’ll explore during the interview. With a duration of approximately 1 hour, we probably won’t cover everything here, and there will be plenty of room for improvisation and organic conversation, letting the discussion flow naturally based on your experiences and thoughts. The goal is to create an engaging, reflective, and inspiring conversation about how travel has shaped you—not just the places you’ve visited, but how they made a mark on who you are and how you see the world.

Themes

1. Early Life & First Steps into Travel

We’ll begin by getting to know who you were before your travels—your background, where you grew up, and how your early environment shaped your worldview. Before travel became a major part of your life, what were your passions, interests, or ambitions?

2. Becoming a Traveler & Expanding Your Horizons

At some point, travel becomes a defining part of life. We’ll discuss when that shift happened for you—whether it was gradual or sudden. Maybe there was a moment when you realised you weren’t just someone who went on trips, but rather that travel had become an integral part of your identity.

3. Challenges, Risks & Extreme Travel Experiences

Travel isn’t always easy, and sometimes the most defining experiences come from the unexpected. We’ll talk about some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced on the road—whether logistical nightmares, cultural misunderstandings, or situations that tested your adaptability and resilience.

4. Transformation & Lessons from the World

One of the richest aspects of travel is how it changes you—not just in terms of external knowledge but in deeply personal ways. We’ll explore how your worldview has evolved and how it has shaped your understanding of culture, politics, privilege, and even your own identity.

5. The Trade-Offs & Sacrifices of a Life on the Road

Travel is enriching, but it often comes with trade-offs. We’ll explore some of the sacrifices and choices that come with extensive travel—whether financial, personal, or social.

6. Your Favorite Destinations & Advice for Exploring the World

Some places leave a stronger impact than others. We’ll talk about the destinations that have had the most profound effect on you—whether because of their landscapes, cultures, people, or personal experiences tied to them.

7. Solo, Group & Family Travel

Travelling solo is very different from travelling with others. We’ll explore the biggest challenges and rewards of each, including travelling with partners, close friends, or family members.

8. Gamification & The Professionalization of Travel

For some, travel remains purely personal. For others, it takes on structured elements—whether through gamification (counting countries, UNESCO sites, etc.) or professional work in the travel industry.

9. Travel, Privilege & the Socioeconomic Context

Not everyone can travel freely. We’ll reflect on how seeing the world has changed your perspective on global inequalities, privilege, and responsible travel.

10. Reflection & The Future

As we wrap up, we’ll reflect on what this journey has meant for you. What are the main highlights, takeaways and regrets? If you could revisit just one place, which would it be? And what’s still on your list?

11. Closing & Call to Action

Before we finish, I’ll invite you to share where people can follow your journey or connect with you. If you have any projects, social media, or upcoming ventures, this is the perfect time to mention them.

I’m really looking forward to our conversation! No need to prepare formal answers—just reflect on whatever resonates most with you. Talk soon!
